The annual Manchester Literary Festival is in its 5th year and this year promises to be even more successful. It began on the 14th October and will run until the 25th October and for all those who a thought provoking piece of literature, from novels to poetry, there will be plenty on offer to excite you.
Top Talent
The Literary festival is designed to showcase some of the top literary talent from around the world and the line-up this year includes UK Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy and Nobel Laureate Seamus Heaney. Other featured speakers include Caryl Philips, Bernard Cornwell of Sharp fame, Lionel Shriver, Barbara Trapido, Simon Armitage, and Heidi Thomas.
There will be many great literary events over the course of the festival including a Historical Readers’ Day. Jeanette Winterson will deliver an inaugural sermon and a series of events to commemorate the life and career of the pioneering writer, Elizabeth Gaskell, will also be taking place.
